What one credit does
- One credit unlocks one plate's full report for 30 days. Checking it again inside those 30 days costs nothing.
- The full report adds every MOT test with its defects and advisories, the mileage checks, advisories that keep coming back, the advert's claims tested against the records, problems by part, a verdict and a checklist and advice for the viewing.
- If you link your RegTail account to another app, unlocking a plate there works the same way and spends the same credits. A credit is only spent when you ask for a plate to be unlocked.

Bought credits do not expire. Credits from an invite code are free and expire at the end of the period shown when you claim them. If a paid unlock fails because a data source did not answer, the credit goes back to your account automatically.
Credits are bought on regtail.com once you are signed in, from the account screen. They belong to your RegTail account, so every app you link to it sees the same balance. The full rules are in our terms.
What no report checks
RegTail does not check outstanding finance, the police stolen register or the insurance write-off register: those are private databases. A report says so rather than implying a clear result.
